Tuscany is Italy’s top spot for British buyers
- Tuscany has topped the list of areas British buyers searched for most in Italy last year. Sicily is second, and Abruzzo is third
- The coastal city of Salerno near Naples saw the biggest increase in buyer searches during 2021, compared to the year before. Searches for Salerno tripled (+202%)
- The medieval town of Barga in Tuscany saw the second biggest annual jump, with buyer searches more than doubling in a year (+139%). The port city of Brindisi came third (+59%).

New data from the UK’s biggest overseas property website Rightmove reveals that Tuscany has topped the list of areas in Italy that British buyers were searching for most last year.
Sicily came second in the list, and Abruzzo came third. Tuscany and Sicily retain the top two spots from 2020, while Abruzzo overtakes Sardinia in third spot.

Rightmove’s Overseas Insights Expert Rachel Beaton said: “With its rolling landscapes and some of the most famous landmarks in the world, it’s easy to see why the beautiful region of Tuscany continues to top the list of areas that Brits are searching for in Italy. Last year, the popularity of coastal and countryside locations in Great Britain soared, both of which you can find in Tuscany, which add to its appeal for British buyers.”
