Success is ending the day feeling I was the best version of myself
We spoke to Janki about her career, and the importance of championing diversity in the industry.
“Being even a small part of someone’s journey is such a privilege”
My parents dabbled in property when I was growing up, so I was exposed to property from a young age. Then when I left university, I was really fortunate that an agency was offering a graduate scheme for lettings, so I jumped straight in. That was 9 years ago.
When working with clients directly, I enjoyed helping others – doing viewings and finding someone their home, it’s great that you’re part of that journey. To see them grow and move is definitely something I enjoy. In my role now, I’m helping the team and helping us grow as a business, as well as building that sense of community and giving back, which I enjoy.

There’s a culture of support, kindness, respect and equality, that makes Paramount more of a family environment. That’s to do with the culture we’ve built, how our offices are laid out, and how we are with one another. Beyond that, we’re very involved in our local community in terms of charity. So, it really feels like we’re part of something bigger here in West Hampstead.
We help people move, but we also help them in other ways. We want it to be a conversation, not a transaction – to build relationships with everyone, whether that’s the person we’re helping move, a supplier or someone we bump into on the street.

Whether that’s the interactions I’ve had, being present in the moment – listening to the birds sing while I walk, putting the right foods into my body, or reading that book. Just being present in the moment. Success for me is genuinely just feeling like myself and feeling the best in me, that’s enough.
I was really honoured when Women in Estate Agency said I could join. They’re just a phenomenal group of women and being able to be part of that and then learn from them is amazing. My big reason for joining is diversity – not just to represent women, but also, I’m Indian, so to represent a different culture, and a different way of thinking. I’m really, really proud to be part of it.

You’ve got the AML training which is super important for our sales and lettings business. It’s really easy to create teams, monitor progress and get the certificates. For our consumers, it’s exactly where our target audience is. So that helps us massively.
