FAQs: Find Agent – exploring helping sellers find and choose you

What is happening?

Rightmove is experimenting with ways to help sellers find and choose you. To do this, we’ll be testing the Find Agent tool on the Rightmove website (desktop and mobile). Experiments will include:

1. Improved design: from week commencing 21^st  September.
2. Showcasing your success: We’re experimenting with showing two data points for your branch/es from October:
   – Number of properties listed for sale on Rightmove by your branch/es within the searched out code (e.g. BD4, WE1, HD3), within the past 12 months.
   – The average asking price of the properties counted in 2) A) above.
3. Surfacing you in results across more areas. From October you will appear in results based on all of the out code areas where you market properties (currently a branch only appears in the area the branch is located).

Where can I see the changes?

All Rightmove users will see the improved designs on the Find Agent tool.

However, since we’re experimenting, Rightmove website users (desktop or mobile) may see some experiments but not others. When running experiment 2) above, only a minority of Rightmove users will see them.

How are the data points calculated?

The number of properties listed for sale will be based on all of the properties listed for sale on Rightmove within the searched out code area (e.g. BD4, WE1, HD3) by the branch within the past 12 months. The median average asking price is calculated based on the median average of all of these properties.

In future experiments, if a user identifies their specific property as part of using the Find Agent tool, we’ll show branch data specifically relating to properties listed that are like theirs.

What if I have multiple branches selling properties in the same out code?

All of your branches that have listed property in the searched out code within the past 12 months will be shown in the results, with the data points for each branch calculated individually.

What can I do if I think the data points are not correct?

Can I opt out of data points being shared about my agency?

Data points will be surfaced in the same way across all partners, so it’s not possible to opt out of data points being shown.

How will the experimental algorithms work?

From October, branches will appear in Find Agent results based on all of the areas where the branch has listed properties in the past 12 months. Currently branches only appear in results based on the single area the branch is located. This means that from October you will likely appear across more search areas and in front of more potential sellers who are looking for an agent.

Do I need to do anything?

No, you don’t need to do anything.

Will the changes be featured on apps?

No. Rightmove apps do not feature the Find Agent tool currently.

I have a Premium Agent Profile, will my branch appear differently to other agents in Find Agent results?

No. On the results page, branches will be displayed in the same format whether the branch result links to a Premium Agent Profile or standard agent profile.

Will my branch profile be changing?

Not immediately, but we will be looking at how your agent profile page can work even harder for you. We’ll be back in touch with you about this.
